How To Reach Nainital?

This hill station in Uttaranchal is very easy to reach. The road network is considerably good, plenty of trains are available and the presence of an airport makes things a lot easier.

The only airport serving Nainital is known as Pant nagar Airport, reaching which takes around 2 hours. This airport handles a minimal number of flights. There are only six scheduled flights in a week to this airport.

The road conditions are certainly good and there are a number of well maintained National Highways that facilitate road journeys to Nainital. Nainital can be reached from Delhi by road. Bus services are operated by Uttaranchal Roadways and leave for Nainital from ISBT Anand Vihar. The total time it takes to reach the hill station is around 7 to 8 hours. The best way is to avail NH 24 which connects Delhi and Rampur via a place called Hapur. Once you reach Rampur, take a turn and follow NH 87 in the northern direction straight up to Nainital. There are occasional halts at Wonderland, Moradabad, Rwy Crossing, Jeliokot and The Cottage.

However, train journey is the most comfortable and cheapest mode of journey and Nainital receives tourists traveling by train at the Kathgodam station. This railhead is located 35 kilometers away from the main town. Tourists can either avail a taxi from the station to reach the town or opt for the pick up facilities offered by their chosen hotel. Express trains that halt at this station consist of the Sampark Kranti Express and Bagh Express from Delhi, Dehradun Kathgodam Express and the Ranikhet Express.
